Woohyun Shin is keen to continue learning after having an injury disrupted start to 2026.

The Hitech driver missed pre-season testing with a shoulder injury and while he returned in Melbourne, he revealed that he used the time after Round 1 to get some surgery to be ready for this next part of the campaign.

“I've been doing very well,” said Shin. “I went back to Korea, had to get a bit of surgery done, but otherwise been very productive, using my time wisely.”

Reflecting on Melbourne specifically, Shin was classified in P25 and P26 in the Sprint and Feature Races respectively and he recently revealed what he took away from his trip to Australia.

“For me, Melbourne was really like a warmup, I guess,” he continued. “I knew I wasn't fully there physically.

“But it was just about going out there, getting the experience and having fun, and I think I did that. You know, it’s a shame I crashed out in the Feature Race, but these things happen.”

Shin was speaking prior to the in-season test in Spielberg getting underway, and now that he is back fully healthy, he is excited to be jumping in the car again.

The 21-year-old completed 150 laps across the two days and felt that the work in Austria would be critical going into the European rounds, starting with Monte Carlo.

“I am really excited now that I'm fully back,” he said. “I can't wait to get going again. There is honestly no better place to start than Monaco. It's going to be very challenging.

“It's my first street circuit ever, and it's renowned for being quite the drivers’ track, especially in qualifying. So we'll see how it goes

“Obviously, to get going straight away at Monaco would be quite a big step. So having the in-season test is going to be very useful for me. We also have a really busy period of the season, with six rounds in eight weeks.”

When asked whether it was key for him to start this busy period on the right foot in Monte Carlo, Shin said: “For me, it doesn't really matter whether it's a good or bad weekend, as long as I always learn something.

“It's my first year in F3, so it's all about finishing those races and getting those experience laps in. So I'm really open to however it goes and I'm ready to deal with it.”
