AIX Racing have confirmed that Jose Garfias will replace the injured James Hedley for Round 5 this weekend in Barcelona.

Hedley suffered a hand injury in an incident during last weekend’s Monte Carlo Sprint Race and was forced to withdraw from the Feature Race.

The British driver is now confirmed to miss this weekend’s action, with Garfias brought in to drive the #26 AIX car for Round 5.

The 20-year-old Mexican driver has been racing in single seaters since 2018 and has competed in the GB3, Formula Regional Middle East and European Championships, as well as the Eurocup-3.

Most recently, Garfias took part in the Euroformula Open Championship and also drove for AIX at both of the 2024 post-season tests in Jerez and Barcelona.

Looking ahead to the Barcelona weekend, Garfias said: “Very happy to be making my FIA F3 debut this weekend! Big thanks to everyone who made it possible. I will make the most out of this great opportunity. I am ready for the challenge, it’s great to be working with AIX Racing for this one, happy to be with them once again. Can’t wait to get started!"
