AIX Racing’s Joshua Dufek is the latest member of the 2024 grid to give us a quick tour of his hometown.
This time, we head to Switzerland and the tranquil surroundings of forests and mountains nearby to where Dufek grew up. From the trails through the natural beauty to the must-go spots for food and even a zoo, here is where the AIX driver recommends visiting.
“My hometown is a little village in Switzerland called Le Vaud. It’s very tiny to be honest and I don’t think you can call it a town, it’s definitely a small village.
“In terms of where it actually is, it’s in between Geneva and Lausanne, so it’s in the French part of Switzerland.
“I’m Austrian as well because my dad is Austrian, but I’ve always lived in Switzerland basically since I was a baby, and I grew up there. So that’s my hometown or home village.
“There are a few things to do there. I’d say the main things are to visit the local zoo. It’s a pretty cool zoo, so I’d recommend going to visit there.

“Then the other thing is to go into an auberge, the Swiss equivalent of a pub, that’s quite nice. They make good food which is nice.
“Otherwise, I live quite close to the forest so you can go hiking in the forests, but that’s about it. There’s not much to do, but it’s nice.
“That’s the nicest thing about where I live is the vastness of the nature there, hiking up into the mountains, you can go for hours and hours. It feels very endless, but it is very nice and worth it in the end.
“The views are picturesque and there are different viewpoints where you can go. They’re made by the village and there are some great clearings where you can see the mountains, so that’s the best thing I would say.”
