Martinius Stenshorne is competing in his second year of FIA Formula 3 with Hitech TGR, and so far, things have been going well for the Norwegian.
Currently sixth in the Drivers’ Standings after two rounds, Stenshorne is pretty at home in the Championship and his team, but we’ve put him to the test by asking for a hometown tour.
From breakfast to dinner and what to do in between, Stenshorne comes up with the ideal day for a first-time visitor.
“So, my hometown is Hokksund. If you’re there, you’re probably there during the winter, so I’d suggest going skiing for a bit in the morning. I live in a bit of a forest, so you can drive some quadbikes or cars in the fields. I live about 10 minutes away from the city, but it’s quite rural.
“Mostly it’s peaceful. I like the peace. I’ve moved to the UK now, around Aylesbury. I live in the middle of a city, but I prefer living in peace. It’s a lot nicer. To be honest, I think it feels like it’s colder in the UK. It’s always windy and raining all the time.
“Around lunchtime, I’d say ice driving is quite fun. You go out onto the lakes where the ice is really thick. You can take the car or rent a car there. They have big spikes on the tyres, and you can go drifting there.

“It’s very cool. People like to go there and try drifting as close as they can to each other. It’s cool to watch and try.
“Then after that, I’d go and play padel. The courts are about 10 minutes away from home, not too far. I go with my friend usually. I don’t do many other sports outside of racing. Padel’s not too difficult to learn, so it’s a good alternative. All the drivers play. Everyone likes it and it’s a big sport.
“For dinner, we could go to my grandparents’ house, get a bit of home cooking. My grandmother is quite a good chef.
“We’ll have a dish she calls ‘Per Ivars Gryte’ which is like a lasagna, with vegetables and mashed potatoes, burnt cheese on the top and mince inside. It’s very nice.
“To be honest, when I’m at home – I travel so much I usually just stay at home. I’m either on the simulator or playing padel, but I don’t do much else when I’m back.
“Maybe we could do some simulator to end the day. I play iRacing, doing ovals, dirt cars, whatever. It’s usually a bit of everything.”
