Interview
Preparing for a second season of FIA Formula 3, Christian Ho says he is more prepared than ever before as he switches to Rodin Motorsport in 2026.
The Singaporean driver was a late addition to the grid last year, and so it meant a truncated pre-season which he says limited his potential early on.
However, after racing in the Championship for a year and getting vital experience at the circuits on the calendar, Ho says 2026 should be a much more competitive one as he feels more ready this time around.
“I have been doing a lot of prep I think more than previous years,” he explained ahead of pre-season testing. “Last year I didn't do much testing before the season started and this time, we had a proper pre-season plan to keep the muscle memory there and to make sure that I'm warmed up ahead of the season.
“I also did the UAE Trophy, to keep sharp and I actually got a sim in my room now, so I've been doing a lot of racing to make sure that when we get to Melbourne, we'll be ready.
“I think with the season being so short and with how much time you have in the off-season, you need to do something to keep your muscle memory there, which is what I regretted from my first season in F3. So I feel like it's been quite a good step, and I think the team has been working really well with me to try and make sure that I keep sharp.”
Ho says that he has been spending plenty of time in the simulator also as he prepares for testing and Round 1 in Melbourne.
That familiarity he has courtesy of his rookie campaign means the Rodin driver is heading into the new campaign from a much stronger platform than he was 12 months ago.
“We also have the sim in the workshop as well so I've been over there a few times to Rodin. I'm actually going there again this week so I think it's been a lot of prep. So I'm quite confident for this season.
“I feel like last year I was still a bit down from what happened before. So I feel like I wasn't really 100% going into the season. Also I didn't know most of the tracks.
“I think 80% of the tracks I didn't know. And I didn't do a single day of testing before the season actually started. So preparation I had then was much less than I have now. I did the first race with a five-month gap between my last race and the first race of that year. So this year I definitely feel much more ready.”
Looking ahead to the season overall, Ho says that Qualifying will be the crucial part, with his best results coming when he made it inside the top 12 on a Friday.
That is the focus going into 2026 and one he hopes will pay off with a maiden F3 podium sooner rather than later.
“My expectations going into the first round in Melbourne - I will try to take it step-by-step but for sure my first target is to qualify in the top 12.
“After that, scoring points becomes more straight forward or even fighting for a podium. If you look at Melbourne last year with the rain, I felt like it was quite hard to overtake in the Feature Race, so if you qualify in the top three, you basically stay there.
“In Silverstone I think I qualified P11, so started P2 in the Sprint and then 11th on Sunday and in the end I got my best results of the season. At the end of the day I feel like Qualifying it sets your entire weekend up.
“Hopefully I have a lot of good Fridays this year. I think the podium can come if I just do my job in qualifying.”
