Brands Hatch bonanza: Joseph Loake’s dream race weekend

Rodin Motorsport rookie Joseph Loake has joined Formula 3 this year after years of racing in the British junior championships back home.

It’s no wonder then that the Briton has developed a love for the famed Brands Hatch circuit, as he details in his plans and dream Formula 3 race weekend.

Here is what he has come up with.

WHERE WOULD THE RACE BE HELD?

“Brands Hatch. As it is.”

WHEN WOULD YOU HOLD THE RACE?

“As soon as possible! It would have to be around August time, middle of August, the 21st. 1:30pm. Very exact.”

WOULD YOU MAKE ANY CHANGES TO THE TRACK?

“I would leave it as is, untouched. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

WET OR DRY RACE?

“Dry race, just because of how quick these cars could go around Brands.”

WHAT TYRES WOULD YOU BRING?

“You’d probably have to go with some pretty soft tyres considering how cold it can get. Also, Brands doesn’t really use up much tyre, so we’ll go with softs.”

WHICH CELEBRITIES WOULD YOU BRING AS GUESTS?

“Rowan Atkinson would be quite cool, bet you’ve not heard that one before. But he would have to act as Mr Bean the whole time, that would be funny. Simon Cowell would be quite funny, he’d just slate anything. I can’t think of anymore, we’ll go with just those two.”

WHICH ARTISTS WOULD YOU HAVE PLAYING ACROSS THE WEEKEND?

“Calvin Harris. I’m not really a big music person to be honest, I have my own playlists but it’s just songs I grew up listening to. It’s not like one specific artist. I’d just have my playlist on shuffle the whole weekend.”

WHAT WOULD THE PODIUM LOOK LIKE?

“So, we’ll have a podium that extends over the whole track, but it uses pistons to do it., so it just starts over the pitlane and then goes over the track after it’s finished. Then, I’ll have a banner of my face behind the podium, so everyone knows who came up with this great weekend, I did this, all three fans can see it! Then some fireworks that go all the way around the track, so you see Brands Hatch in the sky as a giant firework.”

WHAT WOULD THE TROPHIES LOOK LIKE?

“They’d just have to be massive, absolutely huge. I’m talking like, six foot, need a tractor to pick them up. It’s just my face, a statue of my head. If you’re first, you’ll have a massive smile, second will have a bit of a smile and then third would be a thumbs down. If you’re fourth or lower, then sorry!”
